Thank you for visiting my page. My name is Jenny O'Dell, and I graduated from the Muscular Therapy Cortiva Institute in Watertown, Massachusetts in February 2007. My schooling focused on a more orthopedic style of massage developed by Ben Benjamin, integrating neuromuscular and myofascial release with other relaxing modalities to bring the body deeper into healing.
Upon graduation in '07, I began my career at the luxury spas of the White Barn Inn and Breakwater Spa in Kennebunkport, Maine. I also worked part-time at a local chiropractic office in Sanford, Maine, and maintained a small clientele of home visit clients. My spa experience gave me room to hone my deep tissue skills to create a wonderful blend of relaxation techniques that “hide” the deeper work and allow the body to ease into the transition of rest. When the body is allowed to feel safely at ease in my hands, the real healing can begin. Deep Tissue massage with me, is a relaxing, fortifying and suitable experience for all bodies. I have a sincere respect for the muscular system and honor its limits while gently encouraging it to stretch and soften. I love working with individuals who need a place where they can come and relax- sink deep into the table, yet feel like they are receiving productive work for their body. Who says you can't have a deeply relaxing massage AND work out migraine tension, shoulder pain and hips that are causing sciatic pain? I look at your tension patterns as exactly what they are: patterns. I follow the trail head with intuition and curiosity and work with you to find the root of it so that you can experience relief in your body.
In 2009, I left the field of massage to pursue motherhood. I have since created three wonderful children who are the highlight of my life. Massage therapy enabled me to have the flexibility to stay home with them until the time was right to again join the trade at the end of 2019. Being a mother has given me a more maternal perspective when caring for clients. I have the ability to understand what the pregnant mother is experiencing and find many ways to create comfort for her while on the table, and allow her to experience thorough body work to support her body through her pregnancy. Working with a mother from the first trimester, to meeting their little one after their arrival, is one of the most rewarding aspects of my prenatal work. Those newborn snuggles are magical after supporting their mother for 7 or so months.
Before I began my private practice in 2020 and opened up my new location the summer of 2021, I rejoined the massage field working for Dr. Amy Nashwinter at Riverside Chiropractic Center in Eliot, Maine in 2019. Joining her and her incredible team was an incredibly blessed experience for me to get back into the world of healing. It is through the work at this office that a dream was born and gone after to create a space to allow my work to grow and encourage others on their healing journey.
